Dance Information
The 2025 HQ Dance Recital will take place at Hunterdon Central Regional High School - June 8, 2025
Everyone must purchase a ticket, including small children. There are two separate shows. If you are attending both shows, you must purchase tickets for each show. There are no assigned seats, only general seating. You must present your ticket at the door the day of the recital. Lost tickets will not be honored. Please purchase your tickets in advance, as there is limited availability at the door.
Early Show
Mon/Wed/Fri classes will perform from 11:00pm-1:00pm.
Late Show
Tue/Thu/Sat classes will perform from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

Ballet
The foundation of dance begins with ballet. Dancers will focus on basic positioning and steps and continue their progress through complex combinations. Classes will be taught with an emphasis on correct placement and body control to develop the potential dancer through the physical and mental discipline of the art.
Baton
Baton, also referred to as twirling, students will learn basic twirling skills while developing hand-eye coordination and wrist flexibility.
Contemporary Dance
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.
Creative Dance
Creative Dance introduces movement and music with an emphasis on improvisation and rhythmic play. This class is a creative outlet where children are encouraged to discover his or her individual talents. Children will learn to develop body awareness, musical awareness, patterns and sequencing. Students will explore the exhilaration, joy and magic of dancing.
Jazz
Jazz will help dancers develop strong technique to bring them to the next level. Students will work on placement, leaps and turns, as well as, across the floor and a combination in that style.
Kids Jam
Kids Jam is a dance based exercise class. Prepare to have fun !
Lyrical
Lyrical is a combination of ballet and jazz technique. This class will allow the dancer to express themselves creatively. Learn how to express yourself and be unique through movement.
Mini Movers (3yrs) / Dance with Me (2yrs)
Both classes are designed to introduce children into the world of dance and music. Children will learn the fundamentals of creative movement through steps, turns, jumps, and simple combinations. This class will give the child an awareness of body, rhythm and balance while exploring dance as play. Mini Movers - Children must be potty trained to take this class. Dance with Me is with parent participation and child must be in a pull up.
Pointe
Pointe, commonly referred to as toe dancing, is for the advanced ballet student.
Tap
Tap dance enables a dancer to create percussive sounds with their feet while developing rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn basic technique taps, flaps, shuffles and then progress to more complex rhythms, timing, leg/foot coordination and choreography done to various types of music.

Staffed by professional instructors, the Dance Academy offers a well-rounded curriculum with classes for anyone interested in studying dance. Performing opportunities are available for students throughout the year.
Students must complete skill progressions to move to the next level. Intermediate classes require a student to have had a minimum if 2 years of training in that field of dance.
Consecutive classes are not recommended for children under the age of 6 years old.
Classes may be combined or cancelled due to insufficient enrollment.
Registration / Session Dates
All Registration is done online via the member portal for a specific time frame. When online registration has closed all registrations must go through the Program Desk.
Online registration for the Fall session (September to June) is generally early September.
Online registration for the Summer session (June to July) is generally early June.
Dance Recital for all classes age 4 and up will occur in June. Recital information will be posted.
Cost
All active HealthQuest members ages 2 and up are eligible for 1 dance per session. Additional classes may be taken at an additional monthly fee of $35 per class if availability allows.
Class Etiquette
Proper attire is required. Students may be asked to sit out of class if they do not have proper attire.
Please remove all jewelry prior to class. Hair must be neatly groomed and off the face and neck.
Please take your child to the bathroom prior to class.
Students should be attentive to instructor requests and instructions. If a student is disruptive or inappropriate the instructor reserves the right to remove a child from class.
Food is not allowed in any dance studio, water in a container with a lid that can be closed will be allowed.
Transportation
If using transportation from KidQuest or KidZone your child must be checked in to their age appropriate location at least 15 minutes prior to class.
All children that utilize transportation will not be released to a parent after class for safety reasons as they must be brought back to their age appropriate location after class where they can be checked out via that location.
Class Attendance
Children must be on time for class. Absences reported directly to the teacher, Director or department directly will not be noted as an excused absence. Three consecutive unexcused absences or excessive absences (excused or not) will result in a child being removed from a class. All absences must be reported to the Program Desk via email at [email protected] as to not incur an unexcused absence, the email should contain the child’s full name, date they will be absent, class information and reason for absence (i.e. Mary Smith will be absent from 4/5 Ballet on Monday 10/1 at 5:30pm).
Ballet
Girls - leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet shoes, dance shorts and dance skirts may be worn. Hair in a bun.
Boys - white t shirt, black sweat pants or tights, black ballet shoes.
Contemporary Dance
Girls - leotard, pink or tan stirrup tight, dance shorts may be worn, tan pirouette shoes, hair must be pulled back off face and neck.
Boys - white t shirt, black sweat pants or tights, black jazz shoes.
Creative Dance
Comfortable clothing the dancer can move and stretch in (no dresses, skirts, jeans) sneakers or bare feet. Dance attire may also be worn.
Jazz
Girls - leotard, pink or tan footed tight, dance shorts may be worn, tan jazz shoes, hair must be pulled back off face and neck.
Boys - white t shirt, black sweat pants or tights, black jazz shoes.
Kids Jam
Comfortable clothing the dancer can move and stretch in (no dresses, skirts, jeans) Sneakers required (no flip flops, sandals, crocs or bare feet).
Lyrical
Girls - leotard, pink or tan stirrup tight, dance shorts may be worn, tan pirouette shoes, hair must be pulled back off face and neck.
Boys - white t shirt, black sweat pants or tights, black jazz shoes.
