Hunterdon Helpline and HealthQuest have partnered for Power On, Seniors!, an event supporting services for seniors in Hunterdon County. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2015 beginning at 12:30 pm at HealthQuest.
Power On, Seniors! is an afternoon of non-impact races that include power walking, mobility walkers, wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Fun for the whole family, proceeds will benefit Hunterdon Helpline’s Division of Seniors and Disability Services’ free programs and services to the community. The event also will include a mini expo of vendors whose products and services aid seniors and their caregivers. Seniors are one of the fastest growing demographic in Hunterdon County. More and more services are needed to meet this growth, not just for the senior but for the caregiver as well.
A 46-year-old nonprofit in Hunterdon County, Helpline has been the area’s “first call for help,” providing assistance 24/7, 365 days of the year to people in need. Along with its own programs, Helpline has referred residents to the programs and services of other organizations to provide holistic solutions to the challenges they are facing. Its Division of Seniors & Disability Services offers free programs such as Telephone Reassurance, Friendly Visitor and Volunteer Shopper and the directory, CHOICES for Seniors.
Affording seniors the opportunity to age in place is the focus of Helpline’s services. Through Power On, Seniors! and its race entry fees, donations made in support of the individual and team racers, sponsorships and vendors, Helpline’s programs can continue to remain free for its clients.
