HealthQuest hosts Beach Day

Three tons of sand and some beach balls, pails and shovels effected a quick cure for cabin fever yesterday, Wednesday, March 19, at HealthQuest of Hunterdon, a family fitness center.

An alcove just inside the front door was turned into a beach, with a lifeguard stand, tiki torches (unlighted) and dozens of cavorting kids. Rita’s Italian Ice was dispensed amid energetic digging and tossing of beach balls. There was a beach chair, but no child sat in it for very long.

A supporting cast of mothers, relieved of sun-screen duty, stood in the lobby chatting and taking pictures of their kids.

The beach was open for one day only, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to address the cabin fever problem. “We are doing renovations anyway,” said HealthQuest marketing director Lisa Carlson, “so what the heck.”
